Reaching out to share
       the love of Christ

"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”  Ephesians 2:10

Western Hills Community Outreach

The Western Hills congregation is committed to spreading the love of Jesus throughout the Lawton/Fort Sill community. Through special programs and participation in community events, we aim to reflect and manifest the servant attitude displayed by Christ. You will find WHCC members proudly proclaiming the love of God and spreading his message in all corners of our city and region. We believe that demonstrating love for others, and welcoming them into our church family, is an opportunity to open the door to the Gospel to those in need of spiritual healing, in fulfillment of The Great Commission.

For information or questions regarding any WHCC community outreach efforts, please email Outreach Deacon Aaron Young or contact the church office.

Support for Veterans and Military Families

As a supportive part of a thriving community with a large military presence, Western Hills strives to honor, support and assist our area armed services members and their families. One way our church seeks to fulfill that mission is through a partnership with the Lawton/Fort Sill Veterans Center.

Under the guidance of WHCC member and Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs resident chaplain Mike Shklar, members of our congregation regularly lead and assist in chapel services at the center and provide additional time and support as needed. For more information about WHCC's efforts to support the Veterans Center and our military heroes, please email Mike Shklar through the church office.

Backpacks of Blessings

Each July, members of the WHCC congregation come together to provide backpacks stocked with school supplies to elementary-aged students in the Lawton community. These backpacks typically include paper, pencils, crayons, markers, glue and other items to help ensure students begin their school year fully prepared to engage in learning opportunities and help lighten the load for schools and families on tight budgets.

Western Hills has partnered with local schools to make the backpack donations part of the enrollment process for students in their buildings, as well as provided individual assistance to children in need. If you would like more information about this worthwhile program, or would like to make a donation to this annual effort, please email Children's Minister Janice Croft.

Fall Fest

Fall Fest is Western Hills' annual community celebration that includes a free meal, as well as fun and games for children and the highly-anticipated Trunk or Treat activities. Held in late October each year, members donate candy and food, decorate their vehicles (and themselves) and hand out treats to children in costume as part of local Trick or Treat activities. There are also Bible-themed carnival games and crafts for children in the Family Life Center. It's a great night of fun and fellowship that attracts children and families from all over the Lawton community each year.

Thanksgiving Baskets

Similar to the Backpacks of Blessings program, WHCC members annually collect food items and other household goods to create dozens of baskets containing items needed for a full holiday meal to donate to families in need. These baskets are personally delivered by members of the congregation to families that have been identified or have requested support during the holiday season.

If you would like more information about this effort or would like to nominate/request support, please contact Stephanie Marcum in the church office.
